Recently, we shared how Malaysia was named the 19th most peaceful in the world out of 163 nations, one of the highest-placing Asian countries in the rankings.

However, a quick glimpse at the Facebook comments section of the post, some Malaysians were sceptical of the ranking, while some claimed that we could have an even better placement if not for our divisive politics.

Foreign woman claims it’s safe to walk alone anywhere at any time in Malaysia

Well, one person who would definitely agree with the ranking has got to be @sozi.deeb, a female TikTok content creator from the Arab world who makes many videos about our country, especially our local food and fruits.

In one of her latest TikTok posts, @sozi.deeb claimed that Malaysia is such a safe nation, that it is safe for people to walk alone anywhere at any time in our country.

In a video which has since garnered over 100,000 views and 3,500 likes, the foreign woman shared her solo trip to what looks like the Pudu market in Kuala Lumpur during the wee hours of the morning.

In the overlaid text of the video, @sozi.deeb said,

“One of the reasons why I want to stay in Malaysia. It is 5am, you can walk anywhere at any time, it is a safe country, ??❤️

The video then showed her POV of walking the near-empty streets near the market and buying fruits at a few stalls.

Malaysia is safe but not THAT safe

In the comments section, many Malaysians refuted the TikToker’s claims and advised her to not walk alone at night, especially in quiet areas.

One commenter said that one of the reasons why Malaysia is safe is that people here always mind their own business and don’t really bother others.

Meanwhile, another commenter said that 5am is considered the start of the day, hence that’s why it’s safe.

Besides that, one Malaysian said that the situation depends on where you walk, as certain places and areas are safe, though most Malaysians won’t simply walk alone in the middle of the night.

So, what do you guys think of the video? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
