Before we dive into the news, let’s agree that Singaporean food is just boleh lah and nothing mind-blowing. However, there are eateries in Singapore that Malaysians love to go to have the specialties there despite being just ok-ok je. We are actually a supportive neighbour.
One of the Singaporean eateries famous among Malaysians was in the news recently, not for the food but for what the owner did to his rival. Famous restaurant owner Zam Zam was found guilty on Friday (March 6), with a business partner, for hiring a hitman from a gang to hurt a man of his rival’s restaurant, Victory.
49-year-old Zackeer Abbass Khan, conspired with several others to try and injure Victory restaurant supervisor Liakath Ali Mohamed Ibrahim. He ordered his 50-year-old business partner Anwer Ambiya Kadir Maideen to hire someone to do the act with a lucrative payment.
Anwer then hired a gang member of Joshua Navindran Surainthiran to slash the victim with a knife on August 26, 2015. As a result of the attack, the victim has a permanent scar on the face. The authorities managed to catch Joshua and he was sentenced to six and a half years in prison and six lashes in 2016 on several charges related to the case.
As reported by CNA, After a lengthy trial, District Judge Mathew Joseph found both Zackeer and Anwer guilty of conspiracy to intentionally cause serious injury. The judge ruled that the prosecution had already proven their case.
We are unsure of the fate of Zam Zam Restaurant after this as both of the owners are charged. Hopefully, the restaurant can continue to serve the people as sometimes, the leaders can be crappy, but the workforce are the life of the organization.
