The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested 5 private university students for allegedly targeting gay individuals to rob them.

The students would allegedly message and arrange meetings with their targets via social media and a gay dating application before tying them up during the meeting and robbing them by transferring money from the victim’s bank account.

According to a report by Kosmo, Serdang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner A A Anbalagan shared that this issue came to light when his department received a report from a 41-year-old man who had met one of the suspects through a gay dating application and subsequently became a victim of the group.

“The victim, who works as a hairdresser, agreed to meet with the suspect at the suspect’s rented house in the Bandar Putra Permai area, Seri Kembangan, on March 16 (Sunday). While at the house, the victim found 2 unknown men there when coming out after using the toilet,” he said.
