With the number of Covid-19 cases increasing every day, it’s no surprise that Malaysians are getting more worried at the risk of another Movement Control Order. This worry has triggered a wave of fake news being spread which inadvertently has caused panic amongst the public.

The latest news that is being spread is that there will be an inter-district travel ban across the country starting from midnight today, 2 October, and will end on 16 October 2020 and this statement was allegedly made by Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Health confirmed that this is not true!

Ini adalah kenyataan PALSU!KKM tidak pernah mengeluarkan kenyataan ini. Jangan kongsi atau tularkan kenyataan PALSU ini!

“This a false statement. MOH has never issued this statement. Do not share or spread this false statement!”

So far, the only confirmed news in terms of travel bans is that Sabahans are not allowed to travel inter-district starting from 2 October to 15 October. However, the Defence Minister reassured that necessary services such as food supply requirements, medical, security etc. are allowed to travel across the district.

Make sure to verify any news before you share it. Sharing fake news is dangerous and simply selfish as well!
