We should always remember that when times seem tough, at least you have a proper roof above your head.
For one elderly uncle in Taman Salak Selatan Baru, he’s lived under a broken and collapsed roof and among trees, plants and animals for God knows how long.
Kuan Chee Heng, aka Uncle Kentang, took to his profile to bring this uncle’s situation to light.
He wrote, “In my 58 years of life, I have never seen such a person like this. Living in a house that has collapsed. There is a small bed to sleep, under a tree. There is a rice cooker and an old refrigerator. He has no mattress, he sleeps with caterpillars and snakes.”
The uncle is 68-years-old and can’t work as he possesses an old identity card (IC).
“I have never seen a man living in such a squalid condition in my entire career. There was a family living in an abandoned building but that was better than this.”
Thankfully, Uncle Kentang has agreed to help the man by buying the uncle a mobile phone, cleaning up the location, getting him a cabin and so forth, but he won’t be alone.
In newer postings, he shared how the National Registration Department (JPN) and the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKM) has stepped forward to assist.
JPN will help ensure that the uncle gets a new MyKad, so that he can have a bank account opened under his name and JKM is currently looking into the best solutions for the uncle’s circumstances.
We’re so happy to know that the uncle is in good hands, and that he will have his life back on track in no time!
Kudos, Uncle Kentang, JPN and JKM!
