A 52-year-old woman was shot in the face and shoulder while walking through an orchard in Sarawak.
According to China Press, the incident occurred at 9AM on Wednesday, July 23, in an orchard located in Kampung Englo Mawang, Serian.

An elderly man was arrested to assist in the case
Chief of the Silan Police District, Superintendent Ferrandi, revealed that preliminary investigations led to the arrest of an 80-year-old man to assist in the case.
According to Ferrandi, the suspect was out hunting when he mistook the victim, who was walking nearby, for an animal.
He added that the woman was shot in the face and shoulder with a shotgun and died from her injuries at the scene.
“The suspect mistook the woman for prey while hunting in the orchard and fired, hitting the right side of her face and shoulder. She died on the spot due to the injuries,” he said.

According to Superintendent Ferrandi, the suspect was found to hold a valid firearm license. Despite this, he is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
