A woman in her 70s in South Korea was stuck on her apartment balcony at a complex near Dongnimmun Station on Metro Line 3.

Seoul Jongno Police Station said on April 15 that Sergeant Yoo Jae-il and senior patrol officer Kim Du-tae rescued the woman around 10am, as reported by The Straits Times.

She was stuck on her balcony for almost 24 hours

The woman had gone out to the balcony to water her plants the day before, but the door locked behind her, and she ended up stuck there for 18 hours.

Coincidentally, the weather turned cold across the country last week, with snow in the city during those 24 hours.

She was at risk of hypothermia

Worried about hypothermia, she tied together several pieces of clothing she found on the balcony and tossed them down to the street, hoping someone would notice.

Luckily, 2 officers from Jongno Police Station spotted it and managed to rescue her.
