They wrote, “The Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) strongly condemns the animal cruelty incident that occurred on December 22, 2024 (Sunday) at Ladang Malaya, Selama, Perak. A dog named Kutty was shot with an arrow by a worker simply for straying into another lane.”

“Kutty suffered serious injuries and eventually died as a result of this cruel act. Such cruelty cannot be tolerated at all, and this challenges the basic principles of humanity. Swift and firm action must be taken to ensure that justice is fully served.”

They went on to explain that the act of shooting the dog with an arrow violates the law under the Animal Welfare Act 2015.

Hence, SAFM is calling for witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation into this matter.

“A formal report can be made at the nearest police station, while a complaint to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) is also required to initiate a formal investigation against the perpetrator,”

“Witness testimony is important evidence in ensuring that appropriate action is taken against those responsible,” they added.

They also urged the police and DVS to launch their own investigations into this incident in accordance with the law.
