Last week, the police announced that the mutilated cats found with their stomachs cut open and all 4 legs amputated at the Universiti Malaya campus were caused by stray dogs.

This caused many Malaysians to call them out for allegedly lying and trying to cover up the issue by blaming dogs that cannot defend themselves, leading the police to share that the dog attack was caught on CCTV footage. However, this footage was never presented to the public.

Now, My Stray Rescue, alongside animal activist Shima Aris, has revealed that she received one of the bodies of the cats, which she affectionately named Lily, and took it for a post-mortem report at a veterinary clinic. This report apparently contradicts the police’s statement that the attack was done by dogs.

“The body is currently with a private vet at a private clinic, and I asked the specialist vet to take a more detailed look at the body. I have received a medical report and an X-ray that shows clearly that Lily, the cat, did not die by dogs,”

“From the medical report, its body, as seen in pictures, was cut using a sharp object. So, it’s quite impossible if it is said that dogs were the culprits in this incident,” Shima said in a press conference.

She went on to urge the authorities to conduct a more thorough investigation into this matter, as this affects not only the safety of the animals at the university campus but also the safety of the students there.

The vet also mentioned that there were no puncture wounds or tears on Lily to indicate dog bites and that the injuries were “clean cuts”.

In another post, Shima shared that, following the press conference, the authorities did not reach out to her to ask for the medical report.

Additionally, she requested for the CCTV footage showcasing the dog attack to be sent to her but was allegedly refused and told to meet in person.

“Why? Don’t the public and the students have the right to see it?”
