Recently, a doctor working in a government hospital in Kuantan, Pahang was charged with generating explicit images that feature 5 of his patients, who are girls from ages 7 to 11. It seems that the pictures were taken while he was treating them.

His offences were read out to him in the Sessions Court where he later claimed trial to the 6 charges of producing pornography and engaging in sexual misconduct from December 2022 to 26 January 2023.

For the offence above, he is charged under Section 5 of the Sexual Offenses Against Children (SOAC) Act 2017, which provides a maximum of 30 years in jail and a maximum of 6 strokes of cane when found guilty.

Other than that, the 32-year-old doctor also allegedly touched his 12-year-old patient’s breasts inappropriately on February 8, 2023.

He was charged under Section 14(a) of the SOAC Act 2017 read with Section 16(1) of the same act which stipulates a maximum of 20 years in prison and caning and for Section 16(1), a maximum of 5 years in prison and 2 strokes of the cane.

The doctor was allowed bail of RM5,000 per charge after his lawyer had negotiated for him, there needs to be a surety and he would need to surrender his passport to the court.

He is also required to go to the police station every single month until this case is concluded, reported BERNAMA.

At the Magistrates Court, he pleaded not guilty to possession of explicit images on his mobile phone.

For illustration purposes only.

He was charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by up to three years imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.

The doctor was allowed bail of RM3,500 with 1 surety and he was ordered to not approach any of the victims or witnesses until the case was concluded.

We certainly hope that justice will be served.
