The parliamentary sessions throughout this week will be shortened from 10am to 1pm except for Friday when Budget 2021 is scheduled to be tabled.
This comes after Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassana said that a Dewan Negara officer has tested positive for Covid-19. He also said there’s a possibility that several other members of the Dewan Negara might have also contracted the virus after coming into close contact with the positive case. This is because the positive case is attached to a member of the Dewan Negara through familial ties.

As a result, Takiyuddin Hassan said that there is a need for additional standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adjustments regarding the timing of the parliamentary sessions.
“We need to make an adjustment regarding the timing of the parliament and there’s no need to have the evening session,” he said.
He added that up until yesterday (1 November), sanitisation procedures were carried out including one session by the Bomba Unit. He also said that the parliament hall was sanitised this morning starting at 7am and ended after 9am.
