Recently, in an award ceremony for the Michelin Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2024, Dewakan in KL was given two Michelin stars becoming the first Malaysian restaurant to do so.
Announced during the second iteration of the Michelin Guide Ceremony, the head chef and founder Darren Teoh was again chosen as part of a concise and carefully selected number of local eateries to receive the accolade.
It previously received a single star from last year’s inaugural Michelin Guide for Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
As for other Michelin categories this year, 25 new names have been added to the Michelin Selected listing. This brings the total number of Select eateries to 77. This includes Nasi Lemak Tanglin for their Damansara Heights branch, making it the first restaurant in KL to be honoured for nasi lemak.
In its entirety, this year’s Michelin Guide has seen the inclusion of 127 restaurants and eateries featuring up to 30 different cuisines.
