In this modern era, patriotism isn’t just about waving the Jalur Gemilang at every chance you get. It’s so much more than that! It’s about every single one of us getting actively involved and shaping the future of our nation.

The National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 is making a massive comeback as a super unique and innovative platform, specially designed to bring together our young generation with a deeper purpose and a more meaningful mission. This isn’t just some regular training program; it’s a total game-changer. Think of it as a transformative initiative to pump up that spirit of togetherness, leadership, and social responsibility among our youth.

Through PLKN 3.0, participants will get to learn a ton of crucial soft and technical skills, while also soaking up all the good values that are the real backbone of a progressive and harmonious country.

A Melting Pot of Diverse Backgrounds

The PLKN 3.0 program is tailor-made for Malaysian youth and it’s set to be a mega-important platform for uniting people from different races, especially for those who come from various backgrounds, educational streams, and demographics.

This cross-racial participation will naturally bring together participants from every single ethnic group in Malaysia, sparking real interactions and understanding between them. This program, designed just for Malaysian youth, has a huge potential to be a key platform for uniting all races, since it brings in young people from different socio-economic backgrounds, educational streams, and from every corner of the country.

Naturally, this cross-racial participation will bring together participants from all ethnicities, including Malays, Chinese, Indians, and all the different tribes in Malaysia. Just by living together, doing daily activities, and working in groups in the PLKN camp, it will create deep interactions and understanding among them.

And this is crucial for building bridges of unity and smashing down any prejudices that might be floating around between communities. This program doesn’t just train you to be disciplined and tough; it also hammers home important values like cooperation, tolerance, and respecting each other. Basically, it’s building up the social bonds of Malaysia’s younger generation.

Unity in Numbers

Wanna see the proof? The 2/2025 series is the very first one to pick trainees based on a system, unlike the first series, which was all voluntary.
A total of 444 trainees from two different camps successfully completed the training, which is now held at the Territorial Army Regiment (AW) camps. The racial diversity there is crystal clear.

For example, at Camp 505th Regiment (AW), the male trainees are made up of Malay (63%), Chinese (22%), Indian (11%), Bugis (2%), Kadazan (2%), Bajau (0.4%), and Murut (0.4%). Meanwhile, at Camp 515th Regiment (AW), the female trainees are Malay (62%), Chinese (13.9%), Indian (17.65%), Bumiputera (5.9%), and others (Pakistani) (0.5%).

Building Visionary Citizens

The training includes a ton of group activities that require teamwork and communication. When people from different racial backgrounds work together to achieve a common goal, it naturally builds understanding and gets rid of all the prejudice.

Overall, this program is all about creating responsible and patriotic citizens. It’s designed to unlock the hidden potential in every single young person through interactive sessions, soft skills workshops, and community projects that actually make a difference.

More specifically, the goal is to develop personal potential to produce confident, disciplined, and competitive youth. They’ll be trained to become visionary leaders, creative innovators, and responsible citizens. This is done by supercharging their soft skills like leadership, communication, and teamwork, all while boosting their self-identity, integrity, and moral values.

So, What Do You Actually Do?

  • Phase 1: Core Training (45 Days)

This is the main phase and it’s a must for all selected trainees. This phase is all about building your character, discipline, and unity.

The program is a mix of 70% military modules and 30% nationhood modules. The main focus here is to build a spirit of nationhood, unity, and national integration among Malaysia’s youth.

The training modules are made to strengthen unity and include activities that highlight our amazing cultural diversity, shared history, and all the good values that we share as Malaysians. This training can unlock your hidden potential through interactive sessions, soft skills workshops, and impactful community projects.

In this phase, trainees are trained to become visionary leaders, creative innovators, and responsible citizens. This phase is the foundation for character building and soft skills like leadership, communication, and teamwork.

  • Phase 2: The TVET Component (Continuation)

This is where the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) element comes in. This phase is a continuation of the core training and is all about equipping our youth with technical and vocational skills that are super relevant to the job market.

This phase is a collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and other ministries and agencies, including TVET institutions. It gives trainees who are interested the chance to continue their training in technical skills after they finish Phase 1.

The goal is to make PLKN training more competitive and produce youth who are not just disciplined and patriotic, but who also have skills they can use to get a job or kickstart a career.

To sum it up, Phase 1 is about building your heart and mind, while Phase 2 is all about building your skills and career. And the TVET part is totally voluntary!

In a nutshell, PLKN 3.0 isn’t just a training program—it’s a massive strategic investment in our nation’s people. Through its inclusive approach and focus on soft skills, it proves that unity is a real strength that can be built through shared experiences. So, this is a call to all young people out there: join and be part of the change!

Don’t miss out on this chance to accept the challenge, write your own personal story, and contribute to a harmonious and unified future for Malaysia, while celebrating our diversity as the country’s biggest strength.
