Raids at a hotel and an apartment in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya led to the arrest of multiple individuals involved in sex work, including foreign nationals from Japan and Russia.

The operations were carried out on Thursday evening (July 16) by a team from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) following a public tip-off. Acting Director of the department, Datuk Fadil Marsus, confirmed that 21 individuals were arrested, including a 44-year-old Malaysian man believed to be managing the sex workers.

In addition to the Japanese and Russian nationals, those arrested also included:

  • Malaysian (2)
  • China (8)
  • Mongolia (3)
  • Uzbekistan (3)
  • Vietnam (1)
  • Laos (1)

Prices for the services reportedly ranged from RM400 to RM1,000, with payments made directly to the women.

Datuk Fadil added that the women’s photos were advertised on a website, complete with package prices for clients to choose from. To avoid detection, the syndicate used rooms on different floors of the hotel and also rented apartment units for the activities.

The process for clients was described as simple: they would text a number listed on the website and receive the location and room number upon arrival.

During the raids, known as Op Noda, authorities seized 59 condoms, 21 towels, multiple mobile phones, 16 access cards, and RM4,470 in cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal activities, according to Sinar Harian.

The case is being investigated under Section 372B of the Penal Code, Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, Section 6(1)(c) of the same act, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
