Previously, we shared how a TikToker from China was confused by the arbitrary pricing of mixed rice eateries in our country, which left many Malaysians amused.

Well, another case of arbitrary pricing at an eatery has gone viral recently, though this particular one was mostly due to the pricing being on the higher end of things.

Shared to the JB柔佛吹水站 Facebook group, a patron at an undisclosed eatery in Johor Bahru, Johor revealed that he and his friends were charged RM156.50 by the eatery for 3 plates of mixed rice and drinks.

Meanwhile, the other plate had a piece of fried chicken and prawn and squid curry, while the last plate had meat curry and what looked like sambal cuttlefish.

The receipt showed that the total for all 3 plates and drinks amounted to RM156.50.

In the caption, the patron took aim at the eatery’s owner and sarcastically wrote,

“You can buy the whole row of shop lots in 2 or 3 years… A whole row, not just 1…”

Malaysians said that the prices were ‘scary’

In the comments section, many Malaysians were shocked by what they believe to be high prices for the dishes.

One commenter simply said that the prices were ‘scary’, while another thanked the patron for sharing his experience at the eatery so that others know to avoid eating there.

Besides that, a few commenters associate the high pricing with Johor Bahru’s proximity to Singapore as the prices may be inflated by Singaporeans coming to the city.

So, what do you guys think of the post? Do you think the prices were fair? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
