Trying to eat cleaner but still can’t give up on our amazing Malaysian delicacies? Bask in Malaysian pride (and food!) as you dine in front of the KL skyline with views of the magnificent Merdeka 118 tower and the good ol’ Petronas Twin Towers.

The “Flavors at 40” lunch and dinner buffet line by Element Kuala Lumpur will kick start on 3 June 2022 and we at WORLD OF BUZZ, have the scoop on it!

The buffet features a collection of health-conscious menu options curated for wellness-focused guests dining at the hotel restaurant, TRACE Restaurant and Bar.

The idea is that diners will be able to maintain their healthy lifestyles while staying at the hotel without sacrificing on indulging in Malaysian food.

To do this, the chefs at TRACE have made some changes to their usual cooking methods. For example, by cooking with olive or sunflower oil, using less oil, as well as maximising on healthier cooking methods such as steaming, baking and roasting while still maintaining the richness of local flavours.

By doing this, the restaurant is also able to adhere to the Element Brand of ‘balance’ as well as cater to the Malaysian palate.

Launched in celebration of the hotel’s 5th year anniversary, the lavish hotel also aims to make the dining experience as guilt free as possible by embarking on a farm-to-table mission with their local supplier, BoomGrow.

Through this initiative, the restaurant sources 80% of all its ingredients from local producers. This helps in reducing the ingredients’ food miles as well as our overall carbon footprint as locally sourced ingredients require less fuel to be delivered.

According to Nikie Mok, the General Manager of the hotel, the biggest challenge in realising the farm-to-table mission is “engaging with suppliers who are just as passionate as us about our mission.”

The highlight of this buffet is definitely BoomGrow’s “Seriously Great Greens” which are grown right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Grown hydroponically, diners will be able to literally snip off their vegetables from the grow tray onto their plates!

In a buffet with so much food ranging from the tender and sweet seafood on ice to the grill station with an assortment of herby and savoury meats, it’s natural for most of us to gravitate towards those instead of the salad bar right?

Although, it’s a good thing that we tried the greens because BoomGrow wasn’t exaggerating when they named their produce “Seriously Great Greens”!

Grown organically, the greens that were on offer that day included Parris romaines, peppery rockets, vibrant swiss chards and nutty kales.

The forest green vegetables were sweet, lemony and peppery, but never bitter. Paired with cuts of cheese, condiments and dressings, all of it combined made for the perfect bite!

“We are excited to see how our Seriously Great Greens can help to elevate diners’ experience at Element Kuala Lumpur”, shared Dr. Jay Desan, co-founder of BoomGrow.

In line with Element’s Brand Value on Balance and to further encourage healthier eating habits, Element Kuala Lumpur and BoomGrow has also started a campaign called, “The Green Chow Down” with goals to embrace creativity in healthy eating.
