Many Malaysians are eagerly awaiting the Hari Raya Aidilfitri announcement later tonight at 8 PM.

While the nation waits, UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh is “celebrating early” after being spotted handing out duit raya (festive money packets) to workers in Melaka.

A gesture of gratitude

In a video posted to his Facebook page, Dr Akmal was seen approaching a group of security guards and handing out duit raya.

Upon receiving the envelopes, the group thanked him for his kindness, but he quickly corrected them, insisting that they were the ones who deserved the thanks.

“There are 17 duit raya. This is from me, as I do every year. I am the one who should be thanking you all. Without you, who else would take care of this place?” Dr Akmal said in the video.

Sharing the blessings

The video later shows Dr Akmal meeting other workers in the building, distributing more duit raya and inviting everyone to his Raya open house on 4 April.

“To my brothers and sisters here, once again, thank you all so much. I wouldn’t be who I am without you.”

In his caption, Dr Akmal shared that he decided to give out the festive money after receiving his own Raya bonus, choosing to share the windfall with others.

“We stopped by Seri Negeri to meet the brothers and sisters who have helped me so much. With every blessing we receive, the Almighty sends sustenance to others as well.”
