Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has tabled the Budget 2025 in the Parliament today (October 18).
Anwar revealed how the government is looking to broaden the tax system by adding a 2% tax on dividend income over RM100,000 that individual shareholders receive, starting in 2025.
He also revealed how this move is aimed at ensuring that income tax doesn’t just come from people who earn salaries but also includes money from business owners and those with a lot of shares.
They are also thinking about excluding dividend income from government savings like EPF, unit trusts under PNB, and dividends from overseas.
