During the presentation of the Budget 2024 initiative, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) shared that the government has decided to lower the entertainment duty rates for the Federal Territory.

This means that the rates will go from 25% to:

  • Full exemption from entertainment duty for stage performances by local artists.
  • Reduction to 5% of entertainment duty for theme parks, family recreation centers, indoor game centers and simulators.
  • Reduction to 10% of entertainment duty for stage performances by international artists and other entertainment events such as movie screenings, and sporting and gaming events.

“I also take this opportunity to call on the state governments to consider the reduction of entertainment duty, that can be seen as supporting the development of local creative talents while also boosting national tourism activities,” DSAI said.

Stay tuned for more updates.
