We were devastated enough when we learnt that Factorie and Gap were shutting down. Now, we just found out that our favourite restaurant chain, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., had also shut down two of their outlets in the Curve and Citta Mall yesterday (1 March 2018), as announced on their Facebook page. Sad.
Named after the main characters (Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue and Forrest Gump) of the critically-acclaimed movie, Forrest Gump, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. was a frequent place for many food-lovers, especially those who love shrimp. It has about 40 stores all over the world including three in Malaysia. But since two have closed, it is now down to one.
However, fret not, as the outlet in Sunway Pyramid is still in operation! Looks like we have not lost all of them. Nevertheless, it is unsure why they have decided to shut down the two outlets, but netizens are speculating that it was perhaps due to bad service and poor food quality.
Meanwhile, some were sad that it had closed down, whereas others regretted not getting the chance to try their food. Psst… Sunway’s outlet is still open!
One commenter shared that one of the outlets that has been shut down was his first Bubba Gump date spot (aww!) while another was surprised that they decided to close down their first-ever outlet in the Curve.
Amongst all the commenters that were either predicting or grieving over the closure, one tried to lighten the mood by quoting a very famous phrase from the movie Forrest Gump that explains life’s unpredictability.
Looks like there will only be one more Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. left in Malaysia. Thank goodness they didn’t decide to close all of them, so I guess we’re still good.
Brb, planning to make my next trip to Sunway’s Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. before it’s too late!
