Previously, we shared how Local Government Development (KPKT) Minister Nga Kor Ming stressed that he is serious about solving the issue that is close to the hearts of the people: Public toilet cleanliness.
So much so, that Nga asserted that he doesn’t care if people call him the “toilet minister” so long as clean public toilets become the norm in our country.
Towards that end, the KPKT Minister announced back in January that the government would start handing out a “Toilet of the Year” award to the cleanest public toilet in Malaysia.
Well, a few months later, we may have a contender for the Toilet of the Year as Nga recently shared a newly completed public toilet in Ipoh that’s fit for a king.
In an Instagram post, the KPKT Minister shared two photos of Nam Heong Coffee Shop’s newly renovated toilets in Ipoh Old Town which feature wash closets, bidets and sinks in a shiny golden colour.
Praising the initiative by the eatery, Nga said,
“Thank you to the famous Nam Heong Coffee Shop in Ipoh Old Town for their cooperation in following KPKT’s suggestion to have ‘BMW-grade’ clean toilets.”
“These are not illustrative images but a real shiny golden toilet that was recently built. Congratulations and may all parties keep up the cleanliness!”
In case you’re wondering, the “BMW-grade” mentioned by Nga doesn’t actually refer to the luxury car brand, but instead an acronym for Bersih, Menawan and Wangi in Bahasa Malaysia which roughly translates to English as clean, charming and fragrant.
Awesome! Let’s hope that more businesses will follow in Nam Heong Coffee Shop’s footsteps and ensure their public toilets are also BMW-grade.
What do you guys think of the golden toilets? Where’s the fanciest public restroom you’ve ever visited? Share your thoughts and experiences with us in the comments!
