Local automotive company PERODUA has been approached by English Premier League (EPL) giants Manchester United for discussions on a potential sponsorship deal.
PERODUA Chairman, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, said they are currently evaluating the offer from the 20-time EPL champions, as reported by Berita Harian.

“I’m actually an Arsenal fan”
Asmat shared that he recently got a letter from Manchester United asking if they could put the PERODUA logo on their jerseys and whether they’d be interested in sponsoring them.
He then joked that he’d feel biased if he went ahead with the sponsorship since he’s actually an Arsenal fan.
“I usually don’t talk about these things openly, but personally, I’m actually an Arsenal fan. If I go through with this, it feels a bit unfair to Arsenal,” he said.

“It’d be a huge milestone for the automotive industry”
According to Kosmo, when asked about Perodua’s take on sports sponsorships, especially local football, Asmat said there’s a lot to consider.
“We’ll think about it, especially when it comes to football in Malaysia. We’re always on the lookout for opportunities, but we’ve got to be careful with our decisions so they actually benefit everyone and don’t cause any issues.”
He also added that if the sponsorship happens, it would be a big moment for Malaysia’s automotive industry and could open more doors for local brands on the international stage.
“I’m from Johor, so if I support JDT (Johor Darul Ta’zim), I might lose customers from Selangor or Kelantan. That’s why we have to be smart about who we support and sponsor,” he said.
