It was reported that the mother, Lim Hui Chee, 25, was driving a Toyota Vios heading back from Seremban to Titi when she lost control of the car. Her baby was sitting in the front seat and being held by her father when they had the accident and she was flung out to the middle of the road.

Jelebu Deputy Chief of Police, Deputy Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal said, “The victim lost control of her car when she took a turn and crossed into the opposite lane of incoming traffic before colliding with a Honda Civic coming from Kuala Klawang.”

“The victim’s car is believed to have spun several times before being hit by a Proton Saga, which was also coming from the Kuala Klawang direction. Because of the impact of the accident, Wong Qan Ton, who was at that time being held by her father Wong Ting Sing, 26, was thrown out of the car into the middle of the road,” he added.

The victims of the accident were rushed to the hospital as the driver of the Proton Saga, Luqman Al Hakim Fouzar, 23, had neck injuries as well. Both the driver and passenger of the Honda Civic were unharmed. The baby suffered serious head injuries and doctors tried to save her but to no avail.

She was sadly confirmed dead at around 7.50am the next morning. RIP. Police are currently investigating the accident under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

This accident shocked Malaysians as they started tagging their friends to remind them about the importance of using infant car seats. Some commenters said that they have seen several parents driving around while holding their baby in their laps and it was really dangerous.

Our deepest condolences to Wong Qan Ton’s family.
