Rough handling of luggage bags is unfortunately a common occurrence that most of us have to deal with when we’re travelling. This has led to many passengers complaining that their luggage bags have been damaged in transit. Even Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, the founder of AirAsia had advised the staff to treat the bags carefully to avoid any damage. In a video, he had told a group of his staff that he has been receiving floods of complaints about damaged bags every day.
He had said, “Please look after the bags better. Every day I got someone e-mailing me about the bags. Don’t throw the bags anymore, kiss the bags,” to his staff who applauded him. Previously, AirAsia was also under fire for the mismanagement of luggage bags as they had been caught throwing items that were marked ‘Fragile’ carelessly. A passenger had recorded the staff throwing some fragile and expensive bicycles, which had inevitably damaged the bicycle.
Now, some AirAsia staff seem to have taken this advice to heart. They photographed themselves kissing the bags in a viral post, which has been shared more than 8,000 times.
The post said, “Dear bag, it doesn’t matter how heavy you are, we will handle you with care and kiss you. Love you, bag. All of us apologise for our mistakes before. Please stay tuned with AirAsia.”
On Tony Fernandes’ Instagram account, he also praised the staff when he saw the photos and said that he was proud of them. However, netizens were divided as some felt that their antics were amusing but others were not very pleased and said that they were being sarcastic and making fun of Tony Fernandes’ advice. Many of them said they should focus on making sure the bags were intact instead.
