A total of 472 areas in three provinces, namely Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat will experience unscheduled water supply disruption. Informing the matter, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (Air Selangor) said, this is because two water treatment plants (LRA) had to be shut down and one plant is operating at partial production following an increase in river levels resulting in flooding.
For LRA Langat 2, there was an emergency power outage at the Semantan inlet which resulted in the absence of water supply at LRA Langat 2. The increase in the high water turbidity level resulted in the LRA only being able to produce 40 per cent of the daily production while the Cheras Batu 11 LRA had to be shut down due to floods. The statement elaborated,
“Due to the difficulties experienced where most of the main roads were closed due to the increasing flood situation, Air Selangor is unable to mobilize water supply assistance alternatives through water tanker trucks to consumers and critical premises in the affected areas during this unscheduled water supply disruption.”
