They say that newlyweds are treated like the King and Queen of the day on their wedding day. But what if you run into the King of your country whilst on your way to the reception?!
A Malaysian woman, Dakshayni and her husband found themselves in this almost impossible situation last weekend when they were heading to the grand ballroom at Shangri-la KL for their wedding reception.
All decked out in their wedding attire, the couple was about to enter the ballroom to walk down the aisle when their photographer, Andy stopped them.
It seems like His Royal Highness the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah was also in the hotel at the time and has agreed to meet with Dakshayni and her husband!
“His Majesty saw the Harley Davidson motorcycles that my dad had prepared for the wedding and the hotel staff had explained to him that it was for our wedding,” Dakshayni told WORLD OF BUZZ in an exclusive interview.
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
According to Dakshayni, she and her husband had a lovely conversation with the King, his son, the Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and his daughter.
“They asked about our age, what we do and where we’re from. They also shook our hands and congratulated us on the wedding,” Dakshayni recalled, adding that the King and his children were very friendly and warm.
“We felt so happy and lucky. I had butterflies in my tummy. We couldn’t help but feel nervous when we heard that the King wanted to meet us. It was so special to us as it was our wedding day.”
After the King had left, his assistant approached Dakshayni’s sister to ask for their names and phone numbers. The King wanted to send them a wedding gift!
