This past weekend, National Geographic UK found itself in the spotlight after it had made a huge error in a social media posting, where they mistakenly said that Singapore’s Gardens By The Bay is located in Malaysia!

In National Geographic UK’s caption of the post, they wrote, “From the Archive: A family from India walks through the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, Malaysia.

This drew backlash from netizens who called out the company who’s supposed to be all about ‘geography’ for their ironic error.

Recently, in a tongue-in-cheek response to National Geographic UK’s posting, AEON Retail Malaysia made their own version of the post.

In the post, AEON shared a picture of one of their stores and wrote, “From the archive: A family from Malaysia walks in the AEON Mall Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre, UK.”

“Welcome back to UK, Malaysia.”

The post has gone viral and currently sits on over 7,400 likes and 878 shares on Facebook. Plenty of netizens took to the comments section to applaud AEON for their creative satirical approach.

“Good sense of humour.”

“You also join the game huh?” said another user.

Meanwhile, some users even went along with the joke and made hilarious comments themselves.

“I’ve visited AEON Sri Petaling in North London last week,” said one user.

Another commented, “Really close to my house in Johan Setia, Brentford.”

What do you think of AEON’s tongue-in-cheek response to National Geographic UK’s mishap?
