The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) is stepping up its efforts to promote responsible pet ownership by giving people the chance to adopt dogs for free from their shelter.
In a Facebook post, they shared that the In-Situ Pet Dog Licensing Program is one of their ways to connect with the local community, especially those who have pet dogs.

“Please obtain your pet dog license to avoid enforcement action”
MBDK is reminding dog owners to get their pet dog licenses to avoid enforcement action, as they’re responsible for licensing their pets under the Licensing of Dogs & Dog Breeding Houses By-Laws (MPK) 2007.
Aside from promoting adoptions, MBDK is also offering vaccination programmes and organising on-the-spot dog licensing events. So far, 70 dogs have been successfully licensed, and 49 have been vaccinated by a private agency (Serv-U Veterinary Clinic).
The In-Situ Pet Dog Licensing Program will take place in areas under the Klang Royal City Council from 9 AM to 4 PM on these upcoming dates:
- April 19, 2025 – Padang Taman Klang Utama, Persiaran Sungai Keramat
- April 26, 2025 – Padang Taman Selatan, Jalan Palas
- May 3, 2025 – Dewan Klang Jaya, Jalan Selampit 28, Taman Klang Jaya
- May 10, 2025 – Dewan Sentosa, Taman Sentosa

How to adopt and obtain a license
During one of the previous events, MBDK had set up a counter for compound checks, including those for obstructions, traffic violations, parking offences, metre charges, and temporary obstructions. Discounts were also offered for certain penalties.

MBDK also mentioned that dog check-ups and vaccinations are available for RM55 per dog while obtaining a dog license will cost RM10 per dog.
Owners interested in adopting or participating in these programmes are required to bring the following:
- A copy of your IC
- A copy of your dog’s vaccination record or health certification from a vet or animal department
- Coloured printed photos of your house (front view) and your dog
- The old certificate if you’re renewing the license
Owners can also apply for a dog license online here.
