Firefighters successfully managed to rescue a female patient today, 16 December, attempting to jump off from the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital (HQEII).
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 1pm when the victim, who is in her 30s, was said to exit the 3rd floor of the building before climbing outside of a window.
The woman caught the attention of passersby and the hospital staff who later contacted the fire brigade team for assistance.
Spokesman of the Operation Movement Center (PGO) of the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sabah said their party received an emergency call at 1.16 pm before a team of 10 members and officers along with a van from Perk Assistance Unit Emergency services (ERMS) rushed to the scene.
“As soon as I arrived at the scene, there was indeed a woman who was still outside the window of the building alone,” he said.
“After almost 30 minutes of persuading the victim, the firefighters on duty managed to persuade and soothe the victim who later canceled his desire from jumping from the building in question.”
We are glad that the woman is now safe and sound. Thank you abang bomba for your service!
