“Mother is the heartbeat in the home; and without her, there seems to be no heartthrob” — Leroy Brownlow

When it comes to Mother’s Day, many people use social media as a medium to express their love towards their respective mothers, and we’re pretty sure you’ve seen a lot of Mother’s Day posts recently. While the loving online wishes/tributes warmed our hearts, a Malaysian man couldn’t feel the same when looking at these posts. He had to avoid it because he misses his dearly departed mother.

In an anonymous heartbreaking post shared by the Facebook page Xuan Play, a Malaysian expressed his fear of scrolling through social media because he was trying to avoid the inevitable Mother’s Day posts. He had a close relationship with his late mother and he couldn’t bear the pain of being reminded of her. He lost his dear mother last month.

“We had a good relationship although I’m working in Singapore. We would talk via video call every week, and chatted about random stuff.”

He also said that he’s still mourning the loss of his mother, and despite the comfort from his friends and relatives, he still finds himself grieving.

“I don’t know when will I accept the truth that my mother is gone.”

“Take your time, and don’t rush the process”

Many Malaysians took the opportunity to express their sympathy towards the poor, grieving man. Some also pointed out that they understand how he feels as they’re still reeling from a loss that they have yet to get over.

“Hugs! I still can’t accept that my daughter is gone, it’s painful.”

“Take your time and don’t rush. Don’t force yourself to be happy, that’s your mother and she’ll always be in your heart. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be thinking straight. She gave you life so you can grow up and be safe.”

A netizen who has lost her mother 12 years ago said that she’s still missing her late mother and misses how her mom would understand her every move and feeling.

“Now that I’m financially stable to care for her, she is, unfortunately, gone. I miss her warmth and hugs, and whenever I have problems, I can only face them myself. I still remember telling my mom at her funeral that hopefully, I can still be her daughter in the next life.”

“I know how you feel, I lost my mom to an accident 6 months ago, and I miss her all the time. It’s hard to move on and the pain is unbearable, especially during festive seasons. But to let her rest in peace, we have to learn to move forward.”

Another netizen said that she is still missing her mother, who passed away a year ago.

“No rush in moving on and accepting a death in the family. It’s painful to be reminded of the memories because of how precious they are. Try to change how you think of them and remind yourself of how much you appreciate those memories.”

Every day is Mother’s Day when you’re enjoying the time together, and to all the mothers out there, without your blessings, we wouldn’t be where we are right now.
