Anthony Loke is perhaps one of Malaysians’ favorite ministers of all time, and he’s most notably known for his surprise visits. Just yesterday (January 5), the minister of transport paid a visit to JPJ in Negeri Sembilan to observe the operations there.

If you are looking to renew your driving licence and road tax, you will be delighted to know that you may NOT need to spend hours in the queue anymore. In Anthony’s Facebook post last night, he revealed that  JPJ centers around the country have added multiple kiosks which will enable visitors to renew their documents.  The kiosks are installed at the centers to reduce the “human traffic” at the counter.

Still too busy to visit the nearest JPJ center to renew your documents? Fret not as Anthony announced that the operation hours for the kiosk will be extended outside of working hours! So feel free to drop by to renew your documents when they’re due.

Going online

Just like his visits, Anthony tends to have surprise announcements regarding further improvements. He said that JPJ’s digitalisation will not just end with the installation of kiosks but Malaysians can soon expect online services.

“Imagine renewing your driver’s licence and road tax via an application on your smartphone. Quick and easy right? Yes, JPJ is working on that,” Anthony assured the people.

The installation of the kiosks and the soon-to-be-available online services will not only reduce the queue at the counter but also save a lot of our time as the important process can be done with just a few clicks on the screen of your device.

His announcement has not only surprised many Malaysians, but many of them have praised him for his work and the changes that he’s bound to bring in.

“Always a satisfaction to read his Facebook post. I don’t care if others think he’s merely putting up an act but to me, I like how he performs. He’s the best minister of all, and definitely Malaysian’s favorite!”

“YB, continue this spot-check culture. Or else, the officers will be back to their old behavior in no time.”

Fellow Malaysians, do you think kiosk installation and online services to renew your documents will ease the process? Do you prefer to go online or should things remain the way they are?
