Last month, former First Lady Rosmah Mansor was found guilty of all three charges related to corruption, and she was sentenced to 10 years of jail with a fine of RM970 million, but not before she was released on an RM2 million bail, suspending her sentence while she awaits for the appeal.

As for Rosmah Mansor herself, she believes that the High Court was biased and made the wrong decision when they sentenced her to jail and imposed a hefty fine.

She said that the decision made by the judge was based on inaccurate conclusions, and contradicted the evidence.

“The judge erred in terms of facts and law because he failed to evaluate the testimony of prosecution witnesses.”

Rosmah said that two of the witnesses proposed to give political contributions to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“The political contribution is aimed at the stability and interests of Barisan Nasional (BN) and UMNO to face the general election, not for Najib personally,” Rosmah said.

Rosmah said that the accusation is not reasonable because if it is true that she wants to get the benefits of the hybrid solar project, she could have directly asked her husband for help.

“Najib was the PM and the Minister of Finance back then, and he had more power to approve payments or anything regarding hybrid solar projects.”

Utusan reported that Rosmah has outlined 127 appeal grounds to set aside the conviction and sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine amounting to RM970 million or another 30 years in prison if she fails to pay the fine for all three corruption charges.

Rosmah was convicted on one charge of asking for a bribe of RM187.5 million and two charges of receiving bribes amounting to RM6.5 million, namely RM1.5 million and RM5 million in relation to the solar energy supply and installation project in a rural school in Sarawak.

We’ll have to wait for the hearing of the appeal and see how Rosmah’s fate will eventually turn out.
