After a meal, most of us will always have an extra space in our tummy for dessert. Some people find satisfaction in fruits or ice cream, while others may go for any kind of sweets.

With the continuous surge in prices of goods, some eateries, including dessert chains are expected to increase the prices of their products but how much is considered TOO much to pay? Recently, a Malaysian expressed his shock via a post on the Facebook group 吃的平台 about the price of 2 desserts at a popular dessert shop in Klang Valley.

According to his receipt, he ordered a Mango Snowfetti and a Sesame Supreme at the price of RM35.8 and RM18.3, respectively, with an additional portion of Matcha Ice at the price of RM4. With the 6% of SST, the total bill for the 2 portions of dessert turned out to be RM58.10.

Looking at the pictures of the desserts, the portions seem to be big enough for sharing by 2 people.

However, is the price really common for the regulars, or anyone who use to visit this popular dessert store?

The mark up of the price is insane

The post has gained attention from fellow Malaysians who used to visit the dessert chain at various outlets within Klang Valley and most of them were also shocked by the recent prices.

Some of them actually reminisced about the past and compared the prices back then with the recent price.

“Back then it was only RM6.90 for a bowl in Sungai Wang. That was around 2010-2011.”

“It was only RM8.90 back then during my days in college. Now, RM18.90 for a bowl of dessert at this place is ridiculous.”

“What? I remember it was only around RM7.90 to RM8.90 back then in Pavilion!”

A netizen has since pondered on what a piece of RM50 note can do nowadays.

“I don’t think we can buy much with only RM50 nowadays.”

In his post, the man clarified that despite the price, the quality of the dessert was definitely up to his expectations. He did not blame the dessert store for the price as he was simply expressing his shock.

You can refer to the image below for the prices of the desserts sold at this dessert chain.

The total bill for the 2 bowls of dessert is undeniably pricy to some, but if the taste is as good as expected, would you mind paying for it? Or will you resort to cheaper alternatives?
