There have been many viral posts from disgruntled Malaysians about being allegedly charged unreasonable prices at eateries but we’ve got to say, this is one of the most outrageous yet.

Get this, a woman recently took to Facebook to share a receipt of a takeaway meal she bought at an undisclosed location which amounted to RM9.55.

Sounds pretty standard, up until you realise that the RM9.55 is for a bowl of white rice and 1 fried egg. Say what?!

RM6 for 1 fried egg and RM3 for a bowl of white rice

As shared by China Press, the woman shared that she was shocked by the exorbitant price she was charged for the 2 takeaway food items, though she didn’t reveal the name and location of the restaurant.

A closer look at the receipt showed that the takeaway order was made on 3 May. Furthermore, the restaurant charged RM3 for the bowl of white rice and RM6 for the fried egg.

A 54 sen service tax was then added to the order, making the total amount RM9.55 after rounding up.

As for the food items themselves, both the bowl of white rice and fried egg were put in separate plastic containers, though based on the receipt, there weren’t any charges for takeaway packaging.

The woman blamed herself for not asking the price 1st

Despite the exorbitant price, the woman didn’t expressly blame the restaurant but said it was her fault because she didn’t ask for the price 1st.

She asserted,

“I can only blame myself for not asking the price when I made the order”
