M’sian Speedster Takes Home Track & Field Championship Title in USA, Breaks National Record!

Malaysian track star, Shereen Samson Vallabouy has made her parents and our country proud after taking the top spot at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II track and field competition in the US.

Shereen also broke several records, adding to the legacy that is a Malaysian track dynasty.

Azrail bin Khaidzir took to his Facebook page to share the amazing news and his excitement over her win.

He wrote, “Shereen Samson Vallabouy has made Malaysia proud once again!! The daughter of Malaysia’s legendary track and field athletes, Samson Vallabouy and Josephine Mary Singarayar is now studying at Winona State University.”

“Shereen Samson clocked 53.79 seconds to break her own 400m indoor record that she did yesterday (53.88s). This is also an NCAA Division II T&F Championship best time and Winona State University school indoor record.”

On top of that, the Majlis Sukan Negara Malaysia Facebook page also shared that Shereen has officially beaten a 16-year national record.

“Congratulations and well done to our nation’s talented athlete, Shereen Samson Vallabouy, who broke the national record of the 400m event at the U.S. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 2 Championship at the Pittsburg State University in Kansas, USA,”

Her (Shereen’s) record of 53.79 seconds surpassed the national record in the hall previously held by Noraseela Khalid with a record of 54.58 seconds,” they wrote.

Congratulations, Shereen! We can’t wait to see more from this speedster in the future!
