Malaysian Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has signed a Covid-19 vaccine deal with Pfizer!

As according to Bernama, he shared that Malaysia will be getting a supply of 12.8 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from the pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, to meet the immunization needs of 20 per cent or 6.4 million Malaysians.

“The agreement with the company aims to ensure that the government has access to data to assess the quality, safety and effectiveness while ensuring access to the vaccine if it is ready to be distributed by the company,” he said.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin also took to his Twitter account to share the good news.

In his thread, he also reassured the general public that the vaccine will, in fact, be free for Malaysians.

“Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the Covid-19 vaccine that the government procures will be FREE for Malaysians,” he said.

The first shipment of vaccines can be expected to arrive in Malaysia during the first quarter of 2021.

“This will be used to vaccinate 500,000 frontline workers first, then we will prioritise high-risk groups (the elderly, those with comorbidity), followed by the general population,” he added.
