At a time when we’re facing a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the only thing we should be doing is obeying SOPs strictly to stop the infection transmission. It’s hard to believe that some people are still choosing to be selfish with the number of cases we’re recording.

On 21 October, a 21-year-old Malaysian man was arrested at Balai Polis Damansara for wearing a MOH white wristband which means that the man is supposed to be quarantined.

So, why did he go to the police station?

Initial investigation showed that the man went to the police station as he wanted to lodge a police report as a smartphone he bought online was NOT the same product he received.

As he was lodging his report, the man admitted that he was still undergoing the mandatory quarantine period and he had hidden his wristband on his upper left arm.

The man was arrested and was given police bail today (21 October). The case is being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code for the negligent spreading of a dangerous disease and Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 for disobeying the quarantine rules.

If convicted, the man can be imprisoned for two years, pay a fine or both. Petaling District Police reminded those who are under quarantine to obey the set SOPs.

We’re sure the police will be understanding if you lodge a police report after your quarantine period. By leaving the house, not only are you endangering yourself, you’re endangering countless other people which would render all our efforts pointless.
