As Malaysians, we’re privileged to have so many national treasures in our country. Yet, there are still inconsiderate citizens who take advantage of the beautiful environment we live in.

On 10 October, a netizen took to Facebook to share her disappointing experience of cleaning up a beach in Kuantan. Even though she only spent two hours combing through the shoreline of Pantai Balok, the pictures she shared revealed plastic bottles, cups, torn pieces of rope among other items that were irresponsibly trashed all across the beach.

Aside from your typical rubbish, the netizen also found dangerous, sharp objects littered all across the beach.

“I even found a cuttlefish bait which was really sharp and broken glass on the beach,” she shared in her post.

The netizen said she was based in Kuantan for a project and since it was her last weekend at the site, she wanted to do something meaningful before going home. WOB reached out to the netizen’s source to comment on what advice she would give to local beach-goers and was told that, “this is our home and our land, we need to do our part and take care of it”.

“All it takes is one person’s action to bring positive change. I hope that irresponsible humans could learn to respect mother nature and stop littering. Every bit of trash removed from Mother Nature counts.

Be a responsible citizen! What do you guys think of this?
