The authorities have set certain rules and procedures during this Covid-19 season for good reason. After all, the pain of enduring the coronavirus isn’t one that should be taken lightly.
Which is why the authorities have to take action when the rules are broken.
As according to Astro Awani, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has detained 222 people for not adhering to regulations under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Minister of Defense, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob said that out of the 222 people, 49 were remanded, five made bail and 168 were issued compounds.
“Among the offenses of disobeying the RMCO include activities in pubs and nightclubs (32 people), activities involving large crowds that make physical distancing difficult (81 people), other activities that violate standard operating procedures (SOP) (87 people), violating the home quarantine SOP (five people) and not wearing a face mask (17 people),” he said.
He added that a task force will be created to enforce, inspect and take action against store owners and the general public who do not adhere to RMCO SOPs.
“This includes the use of face masks in crowded public places such as markets or shopping malls and on public transport. The government hopes the people will continue to be the eyes and ears of the authorities to report any action that violates the SOPs,” he continued.
It’s clearly better to just follow the easily doable rules and procedures that have been set in place for our own safety, compared to taking a chance and getting remanded or potentially causing a spread of the Covid-19 virus.
