PM: Students Sitting For Major Exams Will Be Given Priority To Return To School First

Schools have been closed for more than two months because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Teachers, parents and students themselves are scrambling to figure out how the academic calendar will change because of the current circumstances. Today we got a glimpse of what will be done to ensure that the education sector will be adjusted to the new normal.

In the Prime Minister’s message in conjunction with Teacher’s Day today (May 16), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that students who will sit for SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM exams will be given priority to go to school first when the school opens soon. In his speech, he explained,

“When the school opens, for starters, we give priority to students who will sit for SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM exams to go to school first.”

However, he stressed that the SOP by the Ministry of Education on social distancing will be put in place to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak among schoolchildren. The SOP will cover procedures for student arrival, school movement, table setting in the classroom, cafeteria movement and many other aspects.
