In the latest update from the Malaysian Ministry of Health on the total number of positive Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, it has been reported that numbers have jumped to over 1,000, with Covid-19 deaths still at two victims. This comes after yesterday marked another spike in triple-digit cases, bringing the total on Thursday to 900.

The ministry continues to urge all Malaysians to respect the Movement Control Order in hopes of curbing the spread of the disease, especially in light of one individual who had tested positive for Covid-19 after trying to travel on a bus from Johor bound for Kuantan, showing the fact that cross-state travel may extend the reach of the virus.

As of today (20th March 2020), the government has announced they will be mobilising the Malaysian Army to assist the police force to enforce the Motion Control Order, effective this Sunday (22nd March). For the time being, it is advised that all Malaysians remain at their own homes unless absolutely necessary, and postpone all gatherings until the order is lifted.

Given these rising number of cases in Malaysia, it is important that we respect the current Movement Control Order and remain at home. As always, practice good hygiene habits and avoid going out as much as possible.
