Today is a big day for Malaysia as our Finance Minister unveils Budget 2020.

Lim Guan Eng has announced several allocation of the budget and it seems that the government is focusing heavily on the digital sector. We are moving towards the future!

These updates include having the price of broadband lowered, better internet connection to 5G, and millions of funding into MDEC and Cradle that support local entrepreneurs.

One of the allocations that caught our eye is the allocation of a whopping RM20 million into E-sports!

Yes, you read that right.

In Lim Guan Eng’s announcement today (11 Oct), he mentioned that Budget 2020 sees an allocation of RM20 million to the E-sports industry. However, he did not go into further detail of the breakdown or channel of this disbursement.

BTW, that allocation is a 100% increase from last year’s budget!

Anyhow, we see it as a BIG step of our new government focusing on the right sectors, especially their heavy allocations to upgrade Malaysia’s digital industry. Stay tuned for more updates!
