According to BBC, India will be holding the world’s FIRST EVER FARTING CONTEST this month. Yup, you heard it correctly. A literal WTF.

Sangoi and Sangwe, two residents who live in the city of Surat, Gujarat, are planning on launching a “fart fare contest” on the Internet that actually rewards you with cash prizes if you win in specific categories.
The winner of the competition doesn’t just receive bragging rights, they will be awarded with an actual championship trophy! More importantly however, they’re also entitled to cash prizes ranging between 5,000 rupees (RM294) to 15,000 rupees (RM882).
The competition will be assessed in three separate categories: the longest fart, the loudest fart and the strongest fart.

Each contestant will be given 60 seconds to “brew” their farts and the winners will be selected by a panel of judges that consist of comedians and local physicians.
When the organisers of the competition were asked why they wanted to hold such an event in the first place, Sangoi said it was because of an experience that he had with his family.
He said, “I farted super loudly when I was watching a movie with my family about a month ago. They all laughed at me but it made me think: If there was a fart game, I should be the champion.”

Sangoi went on to say that the public perception of farting has drastically changed and that’s not a good thing, in his opinion.
“If you fart in public 30 years ago, everyone would think this is a natural thing, but now it is a socially disgusting behaviour.”
Sangoi stands by his view that “Farts shouldn’t be ashamed”, and hopes that this competition would change how people have previously denounced the act.
