Let’s get real, it’s no secret that tourists from China can get somewhat unruly wherever they go. From smashing baby sea urchins in Italy, to causing major cleanliness issues in a Japanese Airbnb, anywhere they go, chaos seems to ensue.

That chaos continued its streak in Tanjung Aru, Sabah, where Chinese tourists were photographed helping their son relieve himself by the roadside. Nabs (@bellamazlanx) took to her Twitter account to share the photographs.

Nabs captioned her posting with, “We return to another episode of, ‘Do Chinese people not know Malaysia has toilets?'”

Netizens have since taken to Nabs’ posting to share their opinion on the matter and surprisingly, they were somewhat divided on the issue. Some were quick to share their own experiences with Chinese tourists while condemning their behaviour.

This comment goes, “The other day, I went to Kellie’s Castle, and I wanted to conduct my prayers in the surau. Just as I was about to start my prayer, a Chinese tourist came in. I thought he was a Muslim who wanted to conduct his prayers as well. It turns out he had peed where we prayed. I was about to approach him, but he had left. So uncivilised.”

This comment reads, “They think their kid is a dog that can pee and poop everywhere.”

Other netizens defended the couple by explaining that kids can sometimes have ‘accidents’.

This comment says, “Their son probably peed because he couldn’t hold it in anymore. *Husnudzon*”

*Husnudzon, means ‘positive assumptions’ and is the Islamic teaching of thinking positively. Those who practice this teaching would normally consider all possibilities before coming to a conclusion.”

Maybe we can all benefit from Husnudzon, for personally, I remember not being able to hold my bladder when I was a small kid. Let’s not forget that the tourists probably couldn’t interpret our signboards and couldn’t find a toilet in time.

Nabs’ posting has since garnered over 6,200 retweets.

Let’s not be so quick to judge them based on the bad eggs we’ve seen. I mean, the mother does seem to be trying her level best to clean up after her son.
