Earlier on Tuesday (11th June), three video clips showing two men engaging in sexual relations began to circulate on social media. The videos quickly began to go viral because one of the men is believed to resemble a federal minister in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

At 2.31am this morning (12th June), a man named Haziq Aziz uploaded a 35-second video on Facebook, confessing that he was one of the men in the viral video and naming the alleged minister involved.

Aziz said in the video,

“That video was recorded without my permission on 11th May during the Sandakan by-election in the minister’s room at Four Points hotel.”

“I urge the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate him for corruption. He is not fit to be a leader.”

Shortly after the sex videos began to circulate yesterday, UMNO supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam lodged a police report over the video clips. He was quoted by The Star as saying,

“I want the police to investigate the authenticity of the videos, who has been spreading the videos and also the ‘actors’ involved.”

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also stated on Tuesday that he knew nothing about the video allegedly featuring a PH minister. He was quoted by the Malay Mail as saying,

“I’ve not heard of it. If I don’t know about it, I cannot comment yet.”

In light of this issue, PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has denied claims that he was the individual in the video. An excerpt from his statement addressing the matter reads,

“I categorically deny this vicious libel upon me. This is nothing but a nefarious plot to assassinate my reputation and character in an attempt to destroy my political career.”
