If you find it boring to work from the same desk five days a week, we feel you.

Sure, we love the comfort and familiarity of our own workstation but sometimes, a change of scene every now and then wouldn’t hurt. Which is why the editorial team at WORLD OF BUZZ decided to ditch our regular office space last week and spend the day at Common Ground’s newly-opened outlet in KL Eco City.

Getting there was pretty convenient for us since KL Eco City is located just opposite Mid Valley (but the bridge is not ready for public use just yet). However, once there, it’s best to get directions from the concierge as the lack of signage at the new building made it a little maze for us.

We spent an entire day there from 9am to 6pm and by the end of the day, let’s just say that it was kind of difficult to part with the pretty space. Apart from the comfy couches and friendly staff, here are five other factors that made us fall in love with Common Ground so much, we didn’t want to leave.

1. Its stylish interior & fuss-free ambience that helped us focus

The moment we walked inside the room, we noticed how spacious the place was and how the minimalist yet vibrant decor looked like something we’d come across while scrolling on Instagram. On top of the industrial and stylish furnishing, we’d give major brownie points for the large glass windows that allowed ample of light in, making it easy for us to focus on our task at hand.

Moreover, the place gives off a very hipster-cafe vibe so it didn’t feel like it was a co-working space; instead, it made me feel like I was working at my favourite cafe!

Their playlist was pretty dope too, though personally, I wish they threw in some smooth jazz as well. A few of my colleagues however, found the music just a teeny bit too loud. If you’re one to get cold easily, remember to bring your sweater or a jacket along because the air-cond here can get very chilly!

2. The ability to work from any (comfy) seat, anywhere, anytime

If you spend at least 8 hours at your desk, then you’ll know the pain of not having comfy seats. At Common Ground though, we didn’t encounter such thing. Whether we were working from the tall tables with stools or couches at the lounge area (PS: the pillows are feather-soft!), everyone got comfortable pretty quick and were free to switch seats wherever they pleased – which is great since we didn’t have to be stuck to one designated desk!

They also have office tables if you’re looking for some familiarity whilst working there.

My favourite station to work from was at the normal coffee tables and chairs, since it was the perfect height and I didn’t suffer any back pain by the end of the day.

Besides that, if you and your colleagues are looking for a bit of a privacy while working, fret not because they also have smaller rooms which cater to such needs. Options for everyone!

3. All-day access to food & drinks

Easy access to food and drinks is vital in any co-working space, since we busy bees wouldn’t want to walk too far for some brain food. Thankfully, this co-working space houses a small cafe within its grounds and that means we could grab breakfast (we recommend the avocado on toast for RM12), order lunch and have a cuppa anytime between 9am and 6pm.

We were there on a Friday and there was a promo for their long black coffee (which was heavenly btw) for only RM5 flat the whole day. Coffee lovers, you’ll be glad to know that they grind their own coffee beans too!

For lunch, we had customised pokebowls, which we pre-ordered since the cafe is not in full operation yet.

And if your tummy starts grumbling by tea time, you can expect fruits to be served at approximately 3.30pm – we helped ourselves to some bananas, watermelon, apples and strawberries on the coffee table at the lounge area.

4. Ample space for large groups at their biggest outlet

Spacious is actually an understatement of this co-working space because this outlet has five floors in total! It’s humongous!

Therefore, you don’t have to worry if you’re looking to use Common Ground for larger groups because they also have multiple rooms that could meet your needs. Some of the rooms they have are:

  • Meeting rooms
  • Boardrooms
  • Smaller meeting rooms
  • Quiet lounges for groups who are looking for some privacy
  • Three formats of working spacehot desks (as seen in the picture below), fixed desks and private offices for two or more pax

All their rooms and lounge areas resonate the same vibe and have amenities that are almost alike, so there will be fewer differences between the working space, depending on which package you opt for.

5. Members can enjoy a lot of benefits

If you think that is all from CG, think again! On top of getting a nice work space and access to food, members can also enjoy a ton of other exciting perks at CG that can be beneficial for your company.
