If you have any little ones running around in your household during this work from home period, do ensure to keep a watchful eye on them to prevent accidents like these from happening.
A nine-year-old girl from Perak had to bear excruciating pain for ten minutes before authorities arrived at her family’s residence in Batu 14, Lekir to extract her hand that was stuck in a treadmill.
The child was playing with her siblings when their ball rolled under the exercise machine. The girl tried to retrieve the ball but one of her siblings accidentally turned on the switch to activate the treadmill and her hand got trapped, said a statement from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) of Perak, as posted on Facebook group, Suara Perak.
“We received a call about the incident at 12.54pm on Saturday and one of our members from the Sitiawan Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the location. The firefighters managed to release the child’s trapped hand using a paratech tool and a screwdriver,” said the spokesperson.
The firemen advised her parents to bring their child to the hospital for further treatment after discovering that she sustained minor injuries to her hand.
Be careful, guys! Household appliances can be just as dangerous to children as the outdoors if they’re left unsupervised.
