According to The Star, a producer from the famous Chinese language radio station, 988 FM was tragically killed in a fatal car accident on the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) yesterday (31 July) at about 3pm. 

The accident occurred when the producer, named Tai Hwan Perng, lost control of his vehicle, causing him to hit a motorcycle and crash into the side of a bus.

The 47-year-old sustained internal injuries and died at the scene before he could be rushed to the hospital. The motorcyclist however, escaped with light injuries on his hands and feet. 

Tai’s body was then sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem, according to Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani.

The radio station announced the tragedy on their website and Facebook page, expressing great sadness over their loss. An excerpt from their statement reads,

“Tai Hwan Perng was an outstanding talent in radio and entertainment. We are grieving his sudden death while some of us are still struggling to accept it.”

Listeners began sending their condolences to 988 FM on their Facebook page.

“Truly a shock to hear that… hope his soul rests in peace,” commented one netizen.

“This is so shocking. Rest in peace,” wrote another netizen.
