As kids, we were all natural hoarders collectors. Anything that we found cute, colourful, or intriguing would be added to our collection of stuff. If you know exactly what we’re talking about and your room is buried in childhood toys and collectibles, here are some things you definitely collected while growing up:

1. Those colourful fuse beads that we could make into keychains

The amount of beads that ended up on the floor and under our cupboards were wayyy too much.

There’s just something about putting beads together and creating something new that gives us that sense of pride and satisfaction. But after ironing and fusing these beads together, it usually means we’ll have fewer beads to use in the future. That’s why it was so important to make sure we had an endless supply.

2. Highly sought-after Pokemon cards

Long before Pokemon Go was even invented, there were Pokemon cards, and we took these cards extremely seriously okay! Don’t play, play. We took extra care of these cards, kept them in mint condition, and were constantly on the lookout for the rare ones too so we could own everyone we played Pokemon trading card games with. Some of us still collect these Pokemon cards!

3. Those blade tops that we used to collect to battle it out with friends

Similar to your everyday tops and gasing, these “beyblades” were the slightly “cooler” versions of them. They came with sharp edges, almost like that of a shuriken, and, of course, plenty of colours.

4. Paper dolls and their paper clip-on outfits

Who says you need expensive dolls to play dress-up? These paper dolls along with their paper props and outfits were just as fun and so extremely versatile too!

5. The iconic Batu Seremban

This was one “toy” that we could freely bring to school and not worry about getting it confiscated.

Usually sold in sets of five, the Batu Seremban is basically a game played with tiny pouches of rice or beans. The cloth used to make these tiny pouches always come in different colours and designs too, making it impossible not to want more than one set of Batu Seremban. The more the merrier!

6. Playdough or plasticine

This colourful, modeling dough that came in all sorts of colours definitely helped bring out the Michelangelo in all of us.

We could turn these balls of dough into anything we wanted. Sometimes, we’d get so creative that we’d combine a few colours together before realising we can no longer separate them. Time to buy more!

7. These Snoopy figurines that came in all sorts of traditional outfits

For some reason, this was a popular collection in many Malaysian homes and some of us had hundreds and hundreds of them.

8. Hot Wheels toy cars

These tiny little toy cars came in all sorts of models and colours and you could actually use them to “race” with friends! For some of us who were a bit more gung howe even got our parents to buy us those humongous race tracks, just because. Kinda like this kid…

9. Barbie dolls

Some of us have owned at least one or two Barbie dolls before, while the rest of us had boxes full of them. Regardless of whichever group we fall into, we’ve all definitely made some good memories with these dolls and their 1,283,098 gorgeous outfits.

There may be a ton of Barbie dolls being sold everywhere, but they’re all unique in their own special way and that’s why we love them so much. Super nostalgic wei!

Well, if you’re reading this article and you wish you could relive your childhood days of collecting Hot Wheels and Barbie dolls, here’s one way you can do just that!

For the first time ever, there will be a Barbie & Hot Wheels event happening in Sunway Lost World of Tambun and it’s an event that will surely transport you back to your childhood!

You read that right, it’s an event that’s bringing two completely different childhood toys–Barbie and Hot Wheels–in one event. That means there’s going to be something there for everyone!

For the Barbie segment of the event, visitors can expect these fun activities:

  • Step into a real-life Barbie dream house
  • Get a complete makeover from professionals and take photos in their photobooth
  • Earn yourself a Barbie doll playset
  • Take part in lots of Barbie-themed games and win cool prizes!

There will also be a Barbie Hi-Tea Party happening every weekend and on Christmas day starting 30th November! It happens from 2pm to 4pm and spaces are limited!

As for the Hot Wheels section, there’s going to be a life-sized Hot Wheels race track located by the riverside. So cool!
