Recently, the 2021 Top80 announced some of the best Malaysian cafes that were ranked among the top 80 cafes in Asia!
As written on their Facebook post, Top80 was established to recognise Asia’s rich culinary diversity and to serve as a barometer for quality in the hospitality industry.
So, if you are a coffee person, someone who enjoys getting work done at a cafe or simply hunting new places for you and your buddies to chit chat over good food and drinks, here are the 6 Malaysia cafes that were part of the Top80 Asia list:
1. 103 Coffee Workshop
103 Coffee is a Japanese fusion café located in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. They also do have another two branches at Aeon Maluri Cheras and Changkat.
The inspiration behind the concept of 103, as written on their website, was that Ken (the managing director) was exposed to Japanese trends during his youth, so he was deeply impressed and liked Japanese culture and food.
Seven years in the industry, 103 Coffee Workshop not only serves Japanese fusion food and premium coffee but also in-house and cross-over workshops where one can master Latte art classes, Cupping Sessions and Brewing sessions.

2. Antipodean Cafe
Antipodean Cafe is situated at Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar and has a few more branches located at Midvalley, Menara Tan & Tan Jalan Tun Razak and Atria Shopping Gallery.
As written on their website, Antipodean Cafe aims to be a place that would be a meeting place, a central spot where expatriates and locals can meet, chat, gossip, romance and chill out over a cup of excellent coffee and a plate of good tucker.
It has won multiple awards all around the world and is well known for their food and coffee.

3. Feeka Coffee Roasters
Feeka Coffee Roasters is housed in converted town house in Changkat Bukit Bintang, right in central KL.
As shared on their website, this oasis of calm was named for the Swedish word for work, Fika, (spelt the way it is pronounced), which means ‘to take a break’.
Their range of coffees are brewed from beans sourced from local roasters, striking a balance suited to local tastes.
And of course, their coffee is best paired with their food – be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
They also have a range of house-made millecrepes, pastries, tarts and pies!

4. Foo Foo
Foo Foo is a cafe located at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail that not only is known for its coffee but also its traditional plated desserts.

5. LOKL Coffee C0
LOKL Coffee Co is your friendly neighbourhood cafe situated at Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre, right in the historic heart of KL.
They are proudly known for serving good food and coffee to office workers, students and café hoppers of Masjid Jamek since 2012!
Not only are they known for their espressos, lattes and cappuccinos that can also be made the local way – hand-filtered and served with sticky, sweet condensed milk, but also for their hot, hearty meals – Chicken & Waffles, Truffle Croque Madame and their popular Southern Fried Chicken.

6. PULP Coffee
Pulp is PPP Coffee’s flagship store in Malaysia. Their store resides within the premises of Art Printing Works, a historical printing plant which still functions since 1965 in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
Pulp supplies coffee equipment and roasted beans both at retail and commercial levels. It is equipped with a cupping room, a service workshop and a cafe that serves coffee and pastries.

7. The Owls Cafe
The Owls Cafe is a coffee shop situated at Bukit Jalil. They have a few more branches located at One Space @ USJ25 and at Happy Mansion, Petaling Jaya.
Besides serving freshly roast coffee, The Owls Cafe is known for its food and desserts.
With every ‘owlsome’ bite, The Owls cafe put their soul into it and hope that bonds are made over their good coffee, food and desserts.

The Red Beanbag is a modern contemporary Australian-inspired café, located in a bright and beautiful corner overlooking the Piazza at Publika. The cafe has a spectacular view of the Royal Palace at the back too!

This cafe is iconic!
